Flexible and cost-effective media distribution
Growth in A/V extension
Video extension technology is increasingly being used to power digital signage such as plasma display panels, LCD displays, and kiosk stations. This enables the advertiser to replace and enhance traditional media, and replace static content with high impact moving video. Furthermore, the advertiser now has the power to make quick and centrally updated changes to content. A/V extension is also commonly used in large audience presentation and educational applications.
Choices for A/V extension
Fiber optic extension may be used for long distance and high bandwidth applications. But it is restricted to point to point and can be very expensive. CAT 5 extension is relatively inexpensive, flexible and supports multipoint operation. However, it suffers distance limitations and in some cases physical cabling installation can be complex. Driven by flexibility and performance advantages, wireless technology is now being used for many A/V extension applications.
