Release Notes: SST Driver for Windows NT 3.51
Installation Instructions
The self-extracting driver file includes Help (.hlp) files to assist you in installing the driver.
If you are using EquiView Plus, you MUST upgrade to EquiView Plus Version 5.0 or higher after installing this driver.
If you will be using an Equinox Digital Modem Pool with this driver, please read the following Technical Note:
Modem.inf requirements for Digital Modem Pool under NT 3.51 or WinFrame 1.7 ->
Release Notes
Version 4.13
1. Incorporated updated unimodem files for NT 4.0 and the modem.inf for NT 3.51 to support the MultiModem boards, SST-MM4P and SST-MM8P.
2. Updated driver to include the following fixes and enhancements:
· Added support for the MultiModem boards (SST-MM8P & SST-MM4P)
· Fixed a reported issue that clears the alarm states when the T1 statistics are reset in EquiView Plus
· Fixed logger message for hard reset
· Corrected modem download issue on the DMP where parity/length was not 8, before the port was opened
· Added code to flush the output buffer when the transmit timer expires & added code to set output timer lock
3. Updated the eqnsstview.exe log viewer utility.
4. Updated the MIB agent to support MultiModem boards (SST-MM4 & SST-MM8 PCI).
5. Updated DMP framer code to support new T1 interface board.
6. Updated the DMP services software to support smart download of DMP modems.
7. Corrected a problem related to Cancel Wait Mask for ISA Equinox SST boards.
Version 4.12
This release incorporates a new feature that controls Auto Answer functionality. Auto Answer functionality is now determined by either the operating system revision or by a new utility (eqnureg). For NT4.0, the default is Auto Answer OFF (in previous driver revisions auto answer was always on). For NT 3.51, the default is Auto Answer ON. These defaults are set to accommodate RAS/RRAS functionality. If the application using the DMP is not RAS/RRAS, and you require a
specific Auto Answer capability, you must run the eqnureg utility with the following format: eqnureg /auto_on or eqnureg /auto_off (Digital Modem Pool only)
The following changes, enhancements or restrictions are defined in the release notes for this version of the SST driver:
1. PRI outbound calls are now supported, except outbound digital calls on NT 3.51.
2. Outbound PRI digital calls to a BRI Terminal Adapter fail to connect.
3. The Call Log now captures and displays a digital call and its corresponding SPID (change in the Equinox EquiView Plus Service).
4. The Digital Modem Pool End User Diagnostic DTR/RI Control Signal Test was modified to prevent reporting of erroneous errors.
5. Applied a fix to correct a potential BSOD when the system is shutdown and there are several calls being serviced by the DMP.
6. Added enhanced error recovery for calls that are not answered by RAS/RRAS.
7. Modified the DTR handling to assure that the modem recognizes that DTR has dropped.
8. Corrected a problem regarding recognition of the SST-16 I/P MUX.
9. Added a utility (eqnureg.exe) that will write entries into the registry for various driver functionality of the DMP
· When the driver loads, it determines the operating system and then sets auto answer accordingly.
· If the operating system cannot be determined, then auto answer is turned off.
o Usage: eqnureg /auto_on or eqnureg /auto_off
· The utility can also be used to set the TX empty reporting when data is moved to the SST board
o Usage: eqnureg /txw_on or eqnureg /txw_off
· Reporting when all of the data is on the line and the SST boards output buffer is empty
10. New messages have been added to the sstlogr.# file, which display the OS rev found and the state of the Auto Answer Query.
11. The Control Panel Applet has been updated to support outbound calls when the DMP is set to PRI mode.
12. Changed Line Build Out values to negative numbers in the Control Panel Applet.
13. Performance improvements have been made to the NT MIB agent to reduce CPU time required for the EquiView Plus RAS Monitor program. The best improvement is for those users running Routing and Remote Access Service. A memory cache of RAS/ RRAS user information is maintained by the MIB agent to enhance its performance.
14. Performance improvements have been made to the EquiView Plus Loop Test program.
Version 4.11
1. Installation Note: This driver release includes revised (Framer) code for the T1/E1 interface on the Digital Modem Pool (DMP). Please be aware that the first initialization of a DMP under this driver requires downloading of the revised T1/E1 interface code from the DMP host to the DMP. This download adds approximately 5 minutes to the initialization time and will occur only on the first initialization of the DMP under this driver.
2. Added support for ETSI NET5 compliant E1. Enabled the DMP control panel applet to allow configuration of ETSI NET5 compliant E1 PRI interface. Use of this driver for support of E1 PRI is limited to ETSI NET5 compliant E1 service only.
3. Fixed a memory leak problem in EquiView Plus Service that could cause large increases in utilization of non-paged memory pool.
4. Fixed a problem that could cause DMP modems to fail to answer incoming calls. When this problem occurs, the client modem can be heard to dial but the DMP does not answer and the modem handshake sequence never starts.
5. Fixed a problem that could cause DMP modems to fail. When this problem occurs, the modem is marked with a large red X in the expanded DMP view within EquiView Plus.
6. Fixed a problem that could cause DMP to fail to answer a call when the COM port is configured for digital calls only and is operating in auto answer mode. This problem was observed under NT 3.51 RAS.
7. Fixed a problem in the Control Panel applet that could prevent proper configuration of the DMP under NT 3.51.
8. Fixed a problem that occurred when a host PC is attached to both an Analog Modem Pool (AMP) and a DMP. Powering down the AMP may cause the host to behave as though the host's reset button had been pushed. This problem has been observed with the AMP and DMP chained on the same SST port (with the AMP first on the chain).
9. Fixed a problem that occurs when DMP is attached to ISDN Primary Rate Interface (PRI) and incoming caller has blocked Caller ID number. In this case, the DMP server would crash.
10. Fixed a problem in DMP driver that could result in erroneous entries in the EquiView Plus Call Log which indicate outbound calls.
11. Fixed a problem that could cause intermittent non-responsive modem in the DMP.
12. Fixed a problem that caused PRI interoperability problems with E1 PRI switches.
13. Modified driver (MIB Agent) to support new SST powered boards.
14. Fixed problem in driver (MIB Agent) that could cause the simulated LEDs in EquiView Plus to disappear. These LEDs are associated with the DMP.
KNOWN ISSUE:
Displaying the RASMON window requires significant CPU resources. The RASMON window should be used only for short periods of time to avoid impacting the overall performance of the DMP.
